Art, to me, is a journey.
What I love about drawing, starts at the very beginning of a picture. The most exciting part is the lineart. In the lineart-phase, I experiment, try things out and develop the picture. Not often do I have a specific picture in my mind that I wish to draw onto a piece of paper. It usually begins with an idea, and as I work on it, it develops.
Once I am pleased with the lineart, I'll use a black microwriter for the lines. When that is done, I erase the pencil lines and scan the picture. Once scanned (into iPhoto Plus), I simply use the Bucket Fill Tool to make the lines black again (they get a little lighter from scanning) and fill up the rest of the picture with the colours I have in mind.
Depending on what type of shading I want to use in the picture, I'll either use iPhoto Plus or GIMP for that part of the process.
If there is a background for the picture, most of the time, I do that last.
